Jesus: Prophet of Islam by Muhammad Ata ur-Rahim

Jesus: Prophet of Islam by Muhammad Ata ur-Rahim is a classic study of Jesus as a prophet teaching the unity of God. First published in 1977 and later revised, it examines Jesus in the gospels and in the Quran and hadith, and traces the history of the original followers of Jesus who affirmed unity, alongside the later development of Christian doctrine.

The book offers a wide-ranging study that covers the Gospel of Barnabas, early and later Unitarian Christians, and Jesus in Islamic sources, arguing that the idea of Jesus as part of a trinity was adopted in a particular historical setting and did not become widely accepted Christian doctrine until after the Council of Nicea. It presents Jesus as Muslims honour him: a great prophet whose message centred on the oneness of God.

Readers will explore:

• Jesus as a prophet in Islam, in the Quran and hadith
• The history of Unitarian and Trinitarian Christianity
• The Gospel of Barnabas and early Christian communities
• Common ground and difference between Muslim and Christian views of Jesus

This book is well suited to readers interested in Jesus in Islam, in Christian-Muslim relations, and in the history of early Christianity. Order online from Books Garden with cash on delivery in Dhaka and delivery across Bangladesh.
